Visit Costa Rica -- Escape to Nature

Author: J Gonsalves

With a name that means "rich coast" in Spanish, Costa Rica has indeed, one of the most diverse landscapes in the world. Couple this with its unique approach to blending conservation efforts with tourism, and this small country nestled in the heart of Central America, between Panama and Nicaragua, has fast tracked its way to becoming one of the top tourist destinations on the planet.

Pristine beaches, superb surf breaks, stunning mountain vistas, fiery volcanoes, gorgeous national parks, meandering trails, and a fantastic biodiversity of flora and fauna, make this country among the most complete vacation spots in the world, with something to offer for everyone. Perfect for honeymooners looking for some privacy, or for families who want some fun and adventure, Costa Rica is endowed with a bewildering cornucopia of rainforests, dry forests, cloud forests, wetlands, swamps, and beaches.

Abound with a rich variety of birds and butterflies; this country is also the habitat for some of the most rare and endangered wildlife species known to mankind. Exotic and often amazing catch a glimpse of the resplendent quetzal or the gorgeous Scarlet Macaws as one makes their way through the dense tropical forestation found here. If you get the chance, dive into the warm waters off the coast and swim with a fabulous assortment of marine mammals like leatherback turtles, dolphins and orca whales. Thus, with so many naturally beautiful and outstanding sites to visit, it is no wonder then that this tiny country is often regarded as the most biologically intense place on earth.

Here nature knows no boundaries, with lush verdant forests often giving way to incredible white sand beaches and impressive ocean vistas. From rich green lowlands to fertile volcanic slopes, there is no corner of the country that does not fail to amaze the eye. Climb the summit of Cerro Chirripo, the highest peak in Costa Rica to see more than half the country on a clear summer day, or tour the remote and wild Corcovado National Park on the Osa Peninsula, habitat of the last remaining tropical coastal rainforest in Central America. Visit the capital San Jose in the Central Valley, one of the most cosmopolitan cities on the continent or explore the ancient plains of the Isla del Coco, home to the mysterious pre-Columbian spheres.

A real nature wonderland, Costa Rica's philosophy is simple; enjoy the pure life or 'Pura Vida' here amid verdant tropical surroundings and laidback lifestyle. With a friendly local population who welcome visitors with open arms, Costa Rica makes for the perfect destination for those who wish to escape to nature at its very best!
