How do you process your inner dialogue? What kind of conversations do you run in your head? Did you know that we have about 60,000 thoughts a day? Most people go through their life thinking the same thoughts day after day and getting the same results and wondering why nothing changes. I was listening to a great NLP teacher last night and he was talking about how to make effective changes. He teaches that you start with your spoken word. Because you think about what you are going to say, it also automatically changes your thinking. How brilliant is that? Start changing how you language things, and you will update those automatic thoughts you keep repeating. He makes the following suggestions: I want and I need. These will keep you in the constant state of having something that is not attainable and affirming the lack. Change that to I choose, I have or I am. I cant is a no brainerof course you flip that around to I can. He also made a good point about the I should statements. These always imply that there is an outside authority that is dictating how things ought to be. Next time that thought comes up, ask yourself: According to whom? Start today to make the small changes that will lead to a more empowering outlook on life and create the freedom from limitation that you desire. It all begins with what you are telling yourself.
