Phototherapy involves exposing the skin to wavelengths of ultraviolet light under medical supervision. Ultraviolet light B (UVB) is an effective form of ultraviolet radiation for treating psoriasis. UVB slows the abnormally rapid growth of skin cells associated with psoriasis. Treatment involves exposing the skin to an artificial UVB light source over a set period of time.

Psoriasis has no predictable pattern of spreading and may manifest in any form. There is no certain technique for preventing psoriasis from appearing. Stress, certain medications or even the weather can trigger particular types of psoriasis. Researchers have learnt about the nature of psoriasis and the involvement with certain cells and continue to find a cure.

No single psoriasis treatment works for everyone. It is hard to predict what will work for a particular individual. An open mind and willingness to work along with a doctor to find the best possible treatment goes a long way in the treatment of psoriasis.
