If they accept your book they will want it as a PDF file with cover artwork created. Some will do that for you for a reasonable fee if you don't have the software necessary yourself. These companies charge anywhere from ten percent at the low to forty percent at the high. Most of the best seem to have settled at thirty percent.

In other words, if you sell your ebook for ten dollars and the bookstore gets thirty percent, then they keep three dollars and give you seven dollars. You might think that is a lot, but remember that they did the work for you in selling the book, and if they were not there you would not have made that sale. Also remember that this is a much higher percentage than standard author's royalties from conventional printers and publishers.

Most of these companies handle all the bookkeeping and send you a check once a month. So, if you sell ten books a month at the rates mentioned above, you'll receive a check for seventy dollars. They may not seem like a lot, but remember that you can have your ebook up for sale on several online bookstores. Ten of them selling ten books a month makes you seven hundred dollars, and you only had to write the book once.

The major search engines have this option as well, and many authors have used it quite successfully. However, others have not, so research the subject carefully. Then sit back, wait for people to find your site, and sell books twenty-four hours a day.
