It always looks awesome when we make a fully image based website, as images look beautiful a lot of us want to design a only image based site with only a little amount of textual content in it, but have you ever thought that is it search engine friendly and what effect it can have on your rankings.
In today's highly competitive marketplace your website should not only remain search engine compatible but it should also look attractive to your visitors you just cant throw text on your website even I myself don't even take a look at a website which is fully text based with no images at all.
So what should you do now if you use images you lose rankings and if you don't use them then you lose visitors. So what should you do now? That's where the ALT tags come in... and optimizing them is the solution of your all problems.
What are Image ALT tags?
Image ALT tags are those HTML tags that tell you and the search engines what an image is all about. As we know that search engines can't read the text written in the images so its good to use ALT Tags to help the search engines to understand what the image is all about.
Suppose that you have a website related to the web design industry then having a beautiful image having written Web Design Company will not improve your rankings. Then you will have to optimize your images to fit search engines needs.
ALT tags don't only help the search engines to understand the image but it also helps the user who is viewing your site it also helps them get more information about the image you have on your website.
Following is an example of the ALT tags and how they look:

Image Alt Tag Optimization Tips
Always make sure that you use a well written and a descriptive ALT tags for your images just listing all your keywords is not going to work for you.
Many people use as many keywords as they can in the ALT tags but make sure that you don't do the same, I will advice you to just use your 2 - 3 primary keywords in the tag.
Don't repeat the same keywords in ALT tags times and times. However you can use plurals in the ALT tags, something like: SEO Service and SEO Services.
Don't use ALT tags for more than 2 lines just be brief and very descriptive.
ALT tags is also a good place to use common misspellings of keyword phrases since the alt tag only appears when the image is scrolled over.
Make sure that you use the keyword phrases that you also used in the copy of your page, title tag, meta description, and other tags. |
