Online Business Ideas for Newbies

Author: Dan Theta

So you've given in, and now want to start an online business. Maybe you just want some extra cash in your pocket, to pay off some debts, buy something new, or simply because your current job just doesn't cut it. Or, perhaps you're working a job that makes you miserable, and you absolutely hate it and want to get out of that job as soon as possible and still have an income. I can relate to that. Whatever the reason, you want to get into doing business online, and have no idea where to start; otherwise you would not be reading this. Well that's where this article comes in.

First, you need to have an idea of what you want to do online: an image of how your business will function, and how it will bring in money. Here are a few classic ideas:

1) Become an affiliate and advertise other people's products/services/etc. When you promote whatever they're selling, and it results in a visitor buying whatever they're selling, you get a cut of the profit, a commission. You could get anywhere from 25%-75% of the profit for each sale, maybe even more. You could start your own site that reviews products you are affiliated with, and have those linked with your affiliate links.

2) You could write your own e-book about any topic you can imagine and sell it. Keep all the profits for yourself. You're probably thinking that you're not an expert in any field, have nothing to write about, or some other excuse like those. Maybe you really don't have the knowledge to write about anything. Well, then research! Countless amounts of people search for information every single day, and a lot of it is free.

3) Internet auctions could be a great source of income. Everyday there are millions of transactions going on at Ebay. There are tons of books out there and what have you, detailing how to make money with online auctions, and how to get products to sell for cheap that'll make a lot of profit. Or you could try selling some stuff you don't want and see how that handles.

These are just a few ideas, there are so many more ideas that I'd have to write an entire book just to list all of them. I'm sure you're smart enough to find them out, or to come up with your own. In the meantime, here are a few tips you might want to follow to ensure your success:

" Do NOT just throw your money at every program that promises your money. Take the time to research thoroughly before you choose what is right for you, or if you even want to invest in one of those programs at all, or if you want to fly solo.

" If you decide to have your own website, keep this in mind. Even if your site is so visually appealing and amazing, and it has all these fancy features, if nobody sees your site, it doesn't mean squat. Advertising is an absolute must. You can pay to have your ads displayed in advertising campaigns all over the internet, or if you want free advertising, there are traffic exchanges, blogs, article writing, posting your link in your sig in forums, the list goes on.

" Do not expect to make a lot of money in a relatively short period of time. Of course it's possible, but whenever you see a televised testimony about some get rich quick scheme, you always see the fine print "Results Not Typical". You get out of your business what you put into it. An online business does not mean you do not work. Quite the opposite actually. You just happen to be working at home, on your computer, instead of in a cubicle in an office.

Remember, no business plan is ever fool proof. My father once said if you think something is fool proof, than you've underestimated your fools. I hold this statement quite close and I advise you to as well when pursuing your online endeavors. Your journey has only just begun and now it's your time to shine in the online world.
