Ice Breakers

Everyone is always asking me about what to say to a potential prospect.

I call these Ice Breakers. I learnt these icebreakers over the years. You can modify them to suit your business.

The one thing you need to know about ANY prospect is that they're ALL neutral until they meet you. What they decide when they meet you depends on what you say.

When it comes to Ice breakers you

Want all icebreakers to be rejection free.
Never want to high pressure or embarrass a prospect.
Want icebreakers that have a high probability of success.

So lets get right to it.

Here is a nice icebreaker. This is an icebreaker you would use in any casual situation.

Say this

"I just found out (use the statements below or whatever you want)"

"If you would ever like to know how, I would be glad to tell youmeanwhile.. (get back to what you were doing)"

So lets try one. Lets say your having dinner at a friends house (you could be doing anything really) and they ask you what youre up to.

"Hey Duffy what are you up to"? "

"I just found out how we can retire 5 years early at full pay. If you would ever like to know how, I would be glad to tell you meanwhile, pass me the gravy."

Many people stumble when asked what they do for a living. Now when people ask you directly what do you do for a living you can say the following.

Use the same following responses with this beginning:

"I show people."

** How we can get an extra paycheck every month.

** How we can fire the boss and start our own business.

** How we can stay home with our kids and still get a full time pay check.

** How we can retire 5 years early at full pay.

** How we can work 3 weeks out of the month but get paid for 4.

**How we can take a one week vacation every month and you don't have to stay with your relatives.

** How we can take a 6 month vacation twice a year.

** How we can get a $100 refund every month.

** How college students can earn more money part time than their professors earn full time.

** How housewives can earn more money part time than their husbands earn full time.

** How secretaries can earn more money part time than their bosses earn full time.

** How we can make our skin look 20 years younger with only 45 seconds a day.

** How we can wake up an hour earlier every morning and feel like a million bucks and fall asleep within 7 minutes of hitting the pillow at night.

** How we can lose 2 lbs a week and still eat ice cream.

** How we can feel like we are 16 again, but with better judgment.

**How they can have the energy to wait up for their teenage children.

Now another way to answer the question "What do you do"? You can say the following:

"Well, you know how, (introduce problem)

"Well, what I do is (introduce solution)

Here are some examples

"Well you know how some people don't have as much energy as they used to? Well what I do is market a product that helps people feel like they are 16 again but with better judgment. Do you know someone who would be interested in this product?"

"Well, you know how some people have problems having too much month for the money? Well what I do is show people how to get an extra paycheck in their mailbox every month. Do you know someone who would be interested in hearing more about this?"

"Well you know how some people have tried to generate extra income from home and it just hasn't worked out for them? Well what I do is offer free training and coaching to help them reach their financial goals. Do you know anyone who would be interested in hearing more about this?"

"Well you know how some people have problems losing weight? Well what I do is show people how to lose weight and still eat ice cream. Do you know anyone who would be interested in hearing more about this?

"Well you know how some people are always having to monitor their blood sugar levels? Well what I do is market a product that helps them lower their blood sugar levels without medication. Do you know anyone who would like to have more information?"

After you establish a relationship with someone, you can ask them this question:

"What are your two biggest health concerns or financial challenges?"

Whatever they say, you say the following:

"Would you like to do something about it?"

Or

"Have you ever thought about doing something about it?"

Then you can go into your icebreaker. "I show people how to..."

TIP:

Everyday you probably hear people complaining about their health or finances. Simply ask them the question listed above.

If they say NO to your question they are NOT a prospect so forget about them.

If they say YES, they just gave you permission to provide them information. It could be a presentation, a web site, a business card or an appointment where you can explain things in detail.
