Reno, Nevada hosts the state fair each year for about five days each year in late August. It's full of entertaining rides like the Ferris Wheel and Super Slide while providing lots of sunny days and fresh air for the visitors to explore the fair in.

There are a lot of creative living contests held at this fair and they include an unusual amount of baking events and contests. You'll find the Biscuits and Scones Bake off, the Drop Cookies Bake Off, Junior Cookie Bake Off, Bar Cookies and Brownies Bake Off, Fancy or Filled Bake Off and Best Use of Chocolate in Dessert Contest. That doesn't even include the My Favorite... Contests. You just may find your own My Favorite Salsa recipe or My Favorite Beef Dish recipe.

Enjoy the Nevada State Fair Queen Contest held each year to decide who will have the honor of representing the state of Nevada and its residents. There are also nominations for state fair Princesses, best interview, Miss Congeniality, Most Likely to Succeed, Most Photogenic, and Most Poise and Personality. Around the fair you'll find set up many unusual exhibits. There's often a Robot Demonstration, plenty of interactive computer games, and a ten ton Sand Castle Sculpture.

In the form of traveling entertainment you find jugglers, balloon animal makers, clowns, and a variety of other performers. Kids will like hunting down the Face Painters to have their faces made up like lions and tigers or to simply have little hearts and charms painted on.

Kids can also find the fishing tank a lot of fun. What's better than fishing out a fish all by yourself from the guaranteed stocked fishing tank? They'll be excited that they caught that evening's dinner. They will also enjoy watching the pig races and taking a pony ride or two or three.
